I wouldn’t classify myself as a “candy person”. I do like dark chocolate once in a while, and the candy I am drawn to usually falls more along the lines of confection. When I first saw these olives from the company Olivina (known for their body products, and in my opinion, some of the best retail packaging), I assumed they were either A. some sort of bath olive, or B. chocolate covered dried olives - the latter of which would need to be consumed as soon as I knew it existed. Actually, the “olives” are hard chocolate, with a crunchy center of hazelnut, honey-comb nougat. They taste distinctively non-American in terms of candy, maybe because in Olivina’s words, they are from the “famous chocolate olive groves in southern France”. They’re incredibly addictive, and so good in fact, that I felt compelled to write this article (and no, the company isn’t involved!). At around $20 for a 10oz jar, these olives aren’t cheap, but you can always eat them very slowly, one per week -or- by the handful!
